# Brussels lace

*Brussels lace is a family of laces made in and around Brussels, including fine bobbin laces whose motifs were made separately and joined to a ground.*

Brussels lacemakers produced both bobbin and needle laces. In much Brussels bobbin lace the motifs were made separately, then joined with a mesh ground or with bars, a division of labour that allowed very fine work.
