*A cloche is a close-fitting, bell-shaped women’s hat with a deep crown and little or no brim, emblematic of the 1920s.*

*Cloche* is French for bell. Worn pulled down to the eyebrows over short bobbed hair, often in moulded [felt](https://teazle.art/glossary/felt.md), it became one of the defining shapes of 1920s fashion.
