# Placket

*A placket is a finished opening in a garment, usually reinforced and fitted with buttons, snaps or a zip, that lets it be put on.*

A placket is the opening at a shirt front, cuff, neckline or skirt side, finished with an extra strip of fabric so it holds buttons or a zip and does not tear. Polo shirts and shirt cuffs are the familiar examples.
