Lamé
Lamé is a woven or knitted fabric with metallic threads, usually in the weft, giving a glittering surface.
Lamé carries flat or wrapped metallic yarns, gold or silver in colour, through the cloth so that the surface glitters. The name comes from the French lame, a thin metal blade or strip.
Where is it used?
Evening wear, stage costume and accessories. Historic lamés used real metal strip; modern versions use metallised film, which is lighter and does not tarnish.
