Prêt-à-porter

Also: ready-to-wear

Prêt-à-porter, or ready-to-wear, is clothing made in standard sizes and sold finished, as opposed to made-to-measure.

The French term translates the American “ready-to-wear”. Designer prêt-à-porter collections are shown each season in fashion weeks, and since the 1960s most couture houses have depended on them, and on accessories and perfume, more than on haute couture.
