Tricorne
Also: cocked hat
A tricorne is a hat with its brim turned up on three sides to form a triangle, worn widely in Europe in the eighteenth century.
The tricorne came from cocking the wide brims of seventeenth-century hats. It was worn by men of all ranks, by soldiers, and sometimes by women for riding, before giving way to the two-cornered bicorne at the end of the century.
