Hose
Hose are close-fitting coverings for the legs and lower body worn by men in medieval and Renaissance Europe, later separated into breeches and stockings.
Medieval hose were separate cloth legs; by the fifteenth century they were joined into a single garment tied to the doublet. In the sixteenth century the upper part became padded trunk hose and the lower part stockings. Today “hose” mostly means stockings or tights.
