Doublet

A doublet is a close-fitting padded jacket worn by men from the fifteenth to the mid-seventeenth century.

The doublet was the main upper garment of fashionable European men, worn over the shirt and tied or laced to the hose. It could be padded, slashed to show linings, and fitted with a stiffened front.
