Passementerie

Passementerie is the art and the products of elaborate trimmings: braids, cords, gimps, tassels, fringes and frogging.

Passementiers made the decorative trims of dress and furnishing, from military frogging to the tasselled cords of curtains. Their work combined weaving, twisting and wrapping, often with silk and metal threads.
