Appliqué
Appliqué is a decorative technique in which shapes of fabric are sewn or fixed onto a ground fabric to make a design.
In appliqué, cut-out pieces of cloth are laid onto a base and sewn down, with edges turned under or covered by stitches such as satin stitch. It is used in quilts, banners and clothing, and in many traditions, from Hawaiian quilts to the molas of the Guna of Panama.
