Knitting
Knitting makes fabric by forming rows of interlocking loops from a continuous yarn, using needles or a machine.
In knitting, each new loop is pulled through a loop of the row below. The basic stitches are knit and purl; their combinations make stocking stitch, ribbing, garter stitch and textures such as cables. Because loops can stretch, knitted fabric is elastic.
How is it different from crochet?
Knitting keeps a whole row of live loops on the needle; crochet works one loop at a time with a hook.
